Equinor has very recently been selected for the largest-ever US offshore wind award. The contract consists of two projects: Empire Wind (816 + 1,260 MW) and Beacon Wind (1,230 MW), both located outside of New York. In total, the areas for the two projects stretches to 208,000 acres.
For both projects, the work provided by Kjeller Vindteknikk includes meteorological simulations, wake effect analysis and energy production estimates. In addition, validation of the measurements was performed for the Empire Wind project.
