Measurement campaigns are particularly important in the Nordics because satellite-derived solar resource data are less reliable than in continental Europe. As of Q1 2025, Norconsult operates nearly 15 meteorological stations across Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

Norconsult’s solar measurement campaigns are designed to withstand the harsh Nordic climate, leveraging our extensive experience in wind resource measurements. Our stations typically measure Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) and Plane of Array (POA) irradiance, soiling, albedo, wind, relative humidity, and temperature. In addition to sourcing equipment, building, installing, and maintaining the meteorological stations, we conduct both automated and manual data quality control. Finally, long-term corrections and other processing steps are applied to prepare high-quality, site-adapted time series for use in bankable energy yield assessments for solar projects.
