Long-term data series

Kjeller Vindteknikk performs WRF simulations for various geographical areas and with various spatial resolutions. The resultant data series may be used as reference data in the long-term correction of short-term wind measurements. The data consists of time series of a number of different meteorological parameters modeled based on the model WRF (Weather Research and Forecast). WRF is a state-of-the-art mesoscale numerical weather prediction system, aiming at both operational forecasting and atmospheric research needs. Kjeller Vindteknikk uses two different sources of data as input to the WRF simulations. These are NCEP/FNL data and ERA-Interim data. Detailed information regarding these datasets may be found in Liléo et al. (2013). The main characteristics of the resultant WRF long-term data series are summarized below.
